Biography

Born in Cienfuegos, Cuba, in 1955.  He is the best all time’s Cuban sprinter. His times of 9.98 and 20.06 still remain untouchable as Cuban records.

In 1980 Olympic Games he was silver medalist in hectometer and fourth in 200 meters.

In the major events in the area he was a prominent sprinter. In PANAM Games he won all the individuals finals in which he competed (2 in the 100 and one in the 200 meters), in addition to the two silver medals in 4x100 meters relay (1979 & 1983). In the CAC Games he won five titles and a silver medal, in two editions. In the CAC Champs he added six medals (2-4-0) in four appearances. Six were also his accomplishment in the World Cup (2-1-3) in two appearances.

Datos biográficos

Nació en Cienfuegos, Cuba, en 1955. Es el mejor velocista cubano de todos los tiempos avalado por sus records cubanos de 9.98 y 20.06, vigentes desde finales de la década de los 70.

En Juegos Olímpicos fue subcampeón del hectómetro y cuarto en los 200m, en Moscú 1980.

En los eventos del área fue figura destacada. En Juegos PANAM ganó todas las finales individuales en que compitió (2 en 100 y una en 200) que se suman a dos plateadas del relevo 4x100m (1979 y 1983). En dos Juegos CAC ganó 5 títulos y un metal plateado. En Campeonatos CAC se anexó 7 medallas (3-4-0) en 3 ediciones. Seis también fueron sus lauros en Copas del Mundo (2-1-3).
