Biography

Vicepresident of the Cuban Athletics Federation and member of the IAAF Technical Committee. Has led his country to outstanding international results in the last 25 years.

He graduated as a teacher from the Higher Sports School in 1967. One year later, he became the head of the technical committee in the Cuban Federation. He led Cuba to the top the medal tally in the 1991 and 1995 PANAM Games, as well as a fourth place in the 1992 Olympic Games, second in the 1997 World Indoor Champs and third in the 1997 World Champs.

He was vicepresident of the CACAC and the Iberoamerican Athletics Association. He worked as the technical director of the 1982 CAC Games, the 1991 PANAM Games and the 1992 World Cup in Havana. He was an International Technical Official (ITO) in the 1988 OG, the 1995 & 1999 World Champs and the 1999 PANAM Games.

Datos biográficos

Vicepresidente de la Federación Cubana de Atletismo y miembro del Comité Técnico de la IAAF, es el autor intelectual de los grandes éxitos del campo y pista cubano durante el último cuarto de siglo.

En 1967 se graduó en la Escuela Superior de Cultura Física. En 1968 ocupó la jefatura del Atletismo en Cuba y los resultados se sucedieron años tras año: cuarto lugar en los Juegos Olímpicos de 1992, primero en los Juegos PANAM del 91 y el 95, segundo en el mundial bajo techo de 1997 y tercero en el mundial al aire libre del mismo año.

Fue también Vicepresidente de CACAC y de la Asociación Iberoamericana de Atletismo; Director Técnico de los Juegos CAC de 1982, los PANAM de 1991 y la Copa del Mundo de 1992, todos en La Habana; Oficial Técnico Internacional en los JO de 1988, los CM de 1995 y 1999 y los PANAM de 1999.
